“A Grassroots Approach”
Valley Initiative for Development and Advancement, VIDA, was created as a
result of the grassroots efforts of Valley Interfaith (VIF) in collaboration
with community and business leaders. The organization received a planning
grant from the Governor of Texas to design a job training delivery system
responsive to employer’s and community workforce needs.
VIDA is incorporated and is a non-profit (501c3) agency that provides
employer assistance services and facilitates job training for Valley people.
The agency was established January 1, 1996 and the VIDA Job Training
Assistance Center, opened its doors on March 15, 1996. Its first major
funding source was through Rio Grande Valley Empowerment Zone. |
