Mercedes, Texas (November 26, 2024)— Valley Initiative for Development and Advancement (VIDA) is thrilled to announce a generous and anonymous donation of $400,000 to be disbursed over a two-year period. This substantial contribution allows VIDA to further its impact and continue its vital work in enhancing career pathways for low-income students.
The anonymous donor’s generosity reflects a deep commitment to making investments in today’s students. The $400,000 donation will be instrumental in supporting VIDA’s ongoing programs and initiatives. VIDA has a long history of empowering underserved residents within our region with the tools, education, and training needed to become self-sufficient while fueling the growth of existing employers. This generous donation will further bolster the organization’s ability to serve the community and fulfill its mission. The funds will be allocated to complete our approach model by providing the necessary support services, career guidance, intensive case management, and financial assistance.
“We are deeply thankful for this transformative and generous gift awarded to VIDA. This support will play a vital role in enhancing wraparound services for college students pursuing degrees or certifications in high-demand fields. With this funding, VIDA remains committed to tackling intergenerational poverty in the Rio Grande Valley by fostering economic mobility through career pathways and intensive case management—especially at a time when prioritizing college persistence and completion is more crucial than ever,” said Felida Villarreal, President & CEO of VIDA.
This remarkable donation not only provides essential financial support but also serves as a powerful example of the profound impact that individuals and organizations can have when they come together to address critical challenges in our community. VIDA extends its heartfelt thanks to the anonymous donor for their generosity and belief in the organization’s mission.
